May 2016 Newsletter
This is probably our last newsletter before we take a break for the summer. It is the time when lots of people go travelling, often back to their roots with visits to family and friends or just taking time out to explore more of this great country.
If you are travelling in Spain this summer here are a few links. The first, surprisingly is for trendy Barcelona -
An up-to-date list of the most rated veggie eateries could come in handy - this second link contains a recommendation for a place to eat veggie tapas in Valencia. It is not one that we have heard of before, so we would be interested to hear your views if anyone tries it -
I also discovered that this little gem is still thriving in Toledo -
A while ago one of our members discovered a vegetarian restaurant in Mérida which is the capital of the Extremadura region in western central Spain. It sounds like a fascinating region, with remains of its Roman history.
It is highly rated on Tripadvisor and the reviews are up to date. The place doesn’t seem to have a website, but the address, ‘in downtown Mérida’ is
Shangri-La, el vegetariano
calle sagasta, 21
Tel: 636 752 837
Of course if you are in the UK there are lots of veggie places to eat and wherever you go it is always a good idea to check Happy Cow or similar websites. What would we do without the Internet!
In May we have arranged a veggie event in Antiquary Italian restaurant in Benitatxell. We visited last year and it was a great success.
