Sofia’s, Javea
26th October 2009

It is impossible to think of a better combination,
lovely Laura ‘front of house’, bar person, waitperson - Drew in the kitchen, chef extraordinaire, talented,
creative and resourceful. The determination and flair of this couple has made what Sofia’s is today, a
successful restaurant which is a delight to visit, with hoards of devotees!
The restaurant itself is L-shaped, beautifully
decorated, perfect for groups or more romantic occasions and can seat a maximum of 40 people. Laura’s ready
smile always warmly greets everyone and she sets the standard of attentive and friendly
service.
Montgό Vegetarians are no strangers to Sofia’s,
having had several meals there over the past year. At the end of October
17 members (minus quite a few flu casualities) met at Sofia’s in the evening and enjoyed a three course
vegetarian meal that more than lived up to the expectations of previous visitors and delighted those who were
‘first time’ diners.
The starters were a selection of tapas, including a
delightful salad of avocado, apple, rocket and pine nuts, beautifully dressed, topped with shavings of
Parmesan, followed by a very tasty polenta with mushrooms and spices.
The main course choices were a wonderful goat’s
cheese risotto, an exquisite cauliflower tagine with a delicate rice pilaf, a subtle vegetable korma, or a
strudel with chickpeas, apricots and pilau rice. Drew’s desserts are
always dreamy, rich chocolate, unusual fruit salads with a spicy slant, cheesecakes to die
for!
