Host an event for Montgo Vegetarians
Are you a vegetarian-friendly restaurant or
caterer, who would like to attract new clientele who appreciate creative meat-free cuisine? If you can really
cook and are up for the challenge of designing a completely vegetarian menu that is tasty, satisfying and
interesting, then we will promote it to our members and do our best to generate lots of enthusiasm for it within
our group.
Typically in the Northern Costa Blanca (Javea
and surrounding towns) we are getting turnouts between 20-30 covers on a weekday night, mostly from permanent or
part-time residents, who enjoy good food - not all are vegetarians, in fact far from it, we have many regulars
where one partner is veggie or other members of the household are, or people who are bored with standard menu
offerings or perhaps trying to eat less meat for health reasons.
We are a very loosely-formed group with no
formal membership or structures, essentially a mailing list of people who are interested in this kind of
event. We normally try to organise one event a month, and send out a newsletter to invite people. A
weekday evening often suits restaurants best as a quieter time to experiment with new menus, but we have had very
successful weekend lunchtime sessions too and often attract a more family-orientated attendence.
If you are interested in hosting an event for
us, what we will need from you is a menu offering at least 3 choices for 2-3 courses, that is completely vegetarian
(no meat or fish). Some of our members do not eat dairy, so it's great if at least one of the main courses
can be dairy-free. We know we get best response from members when there is a fixed-price menu including
bread, water, half-bottle of wine etc... it also makes it easier for you on the night to ensure any extras are
noted and paid for separately, as each individual or group will need their own bill.
We really like it when we get innovative and
creative meal ideas from our hosts! Most of us veggies really like risotto and salads and pasta... but that's
because we cook them at home a lot, and get offered them by others all the time. Like anyone else, when
we treat ourselves to a night out at a restaurant, we really appreciate it when we are offered something unusual
and special - and we are always delighted to discuss recipes and menu ideas with you, and be part of your creative
process. You as the chef/restauranteur are the expert, but we understand that expertise comes by
experimentation, innovation and stepping out of the comfort zone, and that that's a continuously developing thing.
By all means be inspired by some of ourEvents
Archive for previous menus, or check out our Veggie Books if you want some new
ideas.
When we have a menu and date agreed, we will
promote it to our mailing list and facebook group, and collect bookings for you, including pre-ordering main
or other courses if that makes it easier for you to prep. We'll bring that list with us so everyone gets what
they ordered, and we know whom to expect, and if we have a number of bigger groups like families we'll help
get the seating right on the night. Our PR varied and opportunistic, but any chances we get to talk about
your menu and event in the run-up to secure bookings, and afterwards, we will - including posting reviews and
photos that our members submit.
For avoidance of doubt, we won't collect
deposits, or manage bill-splitting at the event. We will impress upon anyone booking that this is as firm a
commitment as they make in any restaurant booking, but they are all effectively attending as separate
people/couple/parties. This is just to avoid any potential misunderstandings and 100% turnout is very
typical, especially as we have a lot of 'regulars' who come to as many events as possible. But anyone can join our
list come along to anything that is interesting and convenient for them, we get new people every month, and that's
part of what keeps it interesting!
We get such lovely feedback from people who
attend our events, and we started off just as a small group of people frustrated with the lack of choice of places
to eat good veggie food on the Costa... now one of the real joys is discovering new places we can return to with
guests and non-veggie groups, knowing our needs are going to be understood and met next time. We really
believe this is a win-win situation for our host restaurants, who get the chance to have fun and try something
genuinely new and different, whilst also impressing new customers who might never otherwise have discovered
them.
Interested? Drop us an enquiry by this
form in the first instance, and we'll get in touch to discuss further. Even if we can't do an event with you
immediately we'd be very pleased to give you a free listing on this site, if you are in our area and welcome veggie
guests.
